James F. Green is a singer-songwriter, composer, multi-instrumentalist,
and music producer based in Michigan. He records and performs under his own
name, and is also a founding member of the Matt Bliton Band.
Blending rock, jazz, folk, ambient, and classical elements, his DIY
recordings and music videos cross several genre boundaries.
He holds a Ph.D. in music composition from Michigan State University,
where he studied with Jere Hutcheson, James Niblock, H. Owen Reed, and David
Liptak. Traditional notation as well as tape-, software-,
loop-, and improvisation-based methods are employed by Dr. Green to create works. He has
taught music theory at Lansing Community College, and is a veteran of
many years of one night gigs and nightclub engagements.
